This Privacy Policy explains how Aura ("we," "our," or "the App") handles your information. Aura is a macOS application developed by Kallencode designed to display your WHOOP® performance data.
We believe your health data belongs to you. Aura is designed to be privacy-first: we do not collect, store, or transmit your personal data to any external servers.
2. Information We Collect
Aura connects directly to the WHOOP API to retrieve your physiological data. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Profile Information: User ID and basic account details required for API authentication.
- Health & Fitness Data: Recovery scores, Strain, Sleep stages, Heart Rate Variability (HRV), Resting Heart Rate (RHR), and related metrics.
How We Collect It
We use the WHOOP OAuth 2.0 authentication standard. When you log in, you are redirected to WHOOP’s secure login page. WHOOP issues an access token to Aura, allowing the App to fetch your data. We never see or store your WHOOP password.
3. How We Use Your Information
The data fetched from the WHOOP API is used solely for the functionality of the App:
- Display: To visualize your Recovery, Strain, and Sleep metrics in the macOS menu bar and dashboard.
- Analysis: To calculate trends (e.g., 7-day averages) locally on your device.
We do not use your data for advertising, marketing, or user profiling.
4. Data Storage and Security
- Local Storage Only: All data retrieved from WHOOP is stored locally on your Mac using Apple’s SwiftData framework.
- No External Servers: Aura does not transmit your health data to Kallencode or any third-party cloud servers. Your data stays on your device.
- Token Security: Authentication tokens required to maintain your connection with WHOOP are stored securely on your device.
5. Third-Party Services
Aura integrates with the WHOOP platform. By using Aura, you are also subject to WHOOP’s own Privacy Policy regarding how they handle the data they collect from your strap.
Aura does not include any third-party analytics SDKs (e.g., Google Analytics, Firebase) or advertising networks.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
Because your data is stored locally:
- Revoking Access: You can revoke Aura’s access to your data at any time via your WHOOP account settings.
- Deleting Data: Uninstalling Aura from your Mac will delete the local database and all associated health data stored by the App.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App’s functionality or legal requirements. Any changes will be posted on this page.
